How has your department/unit benefited from using Navigate?
Our department has benefited from Navigate by its ability to streamline all of our appointment scheduling and reporting methods for each student as well as attaching files or documents related to their account. It also allows us to quickly identify and focus on specific students through its search tool feature and ability to build lists.
What feature in Navigate do you utilize the most?
I use the scheduling feature the most but I also use the Issue Alert feature as a wonderful tool to help students find the resources or assistance they need when talking with them. This is a fantastic feature on Navigate to utilize when working with my advisees. If students need further assistance, I can send a referral to another department or program that can help them such as the Student Success Center, Cook Counseling, the Global Education office, Career and Professional Development, etc. I also email advisees through the platform as a way to organize and document all of my correspondence with students.
What would you tell other advisors who are thinking of using Navigate?
There are so many wonderful features in Navigate that will help you organize and assist all of your advisees; from meetings, documents, emails, searches and referrals. You can also customize your appointment scheduling as well. I’m still learning about all of the capabilities of this amazing platform!
