Advising Matters Conference
Virginia Tech's 11th Annual Academic Advising Conference
On behalf of Virginia Tech and Academic Advising Initiatives, we are excited to extend to you an invitation to attend Virginia Tech's eleventh annual academic advising conference. Advising Matters will be held via a virtual format on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
At a time when budgets and personnel are stretched thin, the Advising Matters Conference is designed to be an economical way to offer access to quality advising professional development opportunities for advisors at Virginia Tech, the state, and region. The theme for this year's conference is “Advising Matters: Advisors as Leaders.” This theme was selected to intentionally discuss the role advisors have as leaders and how this impacts and supports student success. Colleges have had to rethink their approach to advising during a pandemic and have been influential in their adaptation to the current environment we live in while still providing advising support to their students. The conference will be a one-day event including an opening session, concurrent sessions, and other activities with the goal of enhancing advising knowledge and skills for faculty and staff while also increasing effectiveness of our advising programs.
The registration fee is $50. Registration will open on January 4, 2021, and will close on January 29, 2021.
We look forward to an exciting 2021 Conference!

Associate Vice Provost for Student Success Initiatives & Conference Chair
