Advising Matters Conference
Virginia Tech's 10th Annual Academic Advising Conference
On behalf of Virginia Tech and the Office of Undergraduate Academic Advising, we are excited to extend to you an invitation to attend Virginia Tech's tenth annual academic advising conference, Advising Matters, to be held at The Inn at Virginia Tech on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, March 2, 2020.
At a time when budgets and personnel are stretched thin, the Advising Matters Conference is designed to be an economical way to offer access to quality advising professional development opportunities for advisors at Virginia Tech, the state, and region. The theme for this year's conference is “Advising Matters: Closing the Gap to Student Success.” This theme was selected to intentionally discuss and generate strategies to assist closing the gap of student success for all students. Based on current trends in higher education, student success and timely graduation are at the forefront of discussions. Colleges must rethink their approach to teaching, advising, and the support services it offers to the increasingly diverse students of today and determine where their services are lacking. The conference will be a one-day event including an opening session, concurrent sessions, and other activities with the goal of enhancing advising knowledge and skills for faculty and staff while also increasing effectiveness of our advising programs.
The registration fee is $100. However, space is limited to the first 200 registrants. Registration will open on January 6, 2020, and will close on January 31, 2020.
We look forward to seeing you for an exciting 2020 Conference!
