Advisor of the Month
The goal of the Advisor of the Month program is to recognize outstanding undergraduate academic and career advisors.
Recognition is based on evidence of qualities and practices that distinguish the nominee as an outstanding undergraduate academic or career advisor to include:
- Quality of information and advice
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Implementation of a "support and challenge" environment
- Accessibility
Eligibility
- Open to all undergraduate academic advisors in an academic college and career advisors.
- An advisor may only receive the Advisor of the Month award once every four years.
Nomination Process
- Nominations occur once per year in September.
- Undergraduate advisors can be nominated by faculty, staff, administrators, or students. Self-nominations are also welcome.
- Upon nomination, advisors will receive an automatic email from our awards system prompting them to complete their nomination, which will include a link to the Complete Nomination Form.
- If you are already aware that you are ineligible based on the criteria above, you do not need to complete this form.
- The Complete Nomination Form includes two questions nominees must answer:
- Which National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Core Value resonates with you the most in your position as an academic advisor and why? (1000-character limit)
- What advice would you give to other professionals who want to make a difference in the lives of their students? (500-character limit)
- After the deadline to complete nominations, eligibility is verified. All nominees will receive an email confirming their status and sharing nominator details and comments.
- An awards committee will review and rank all eligible nominations to select recipients.
