Navigate user of the month: February 2019

How has your department/unit benefited from using Navigate?
Advisors in the Department of Biochemistry began using the Navigate system in August of 2017 and it has both made our work more efficient and made it easier to collect student data to inform our decisions.

What feature in Navigate do you utilize the most?
Here are the three Navigate features that we use the most in order of usage:

• The scheduling feature, which allows our advisees to schedule their own appointments, as well as provide a way for students not yet in our major to schedule an appointment with us by using the “Explore Biochemistry” option.
• The search feature, to quickly look up student data (including their student number) with only their name.
• The advanced search features, which have been a great help in collecting and analyzing student data.

What would you tell other advisors who are thinking of using Navigate?
I would highly recommend it! I would definitely suggest playing with the different search parameters to explore the kinds of specialized data sets that you can pull. This is a great way to quickly identify student performance data for a single semester or a trend over several.
