What was the biggest challenge you encountered as a transfer college student and how did you overcome it? The biggest challenge of transferring from community college to a larger university was feeling behind. Starting off at Virginia Tech as a Junior, you feel as though everyone has already found "their people". As you try to learn campus and navigate your increased work load as a Junior, the added stressor of finding community and friendship can feel daunting when it feels like people have already found their groups. By becoming an active member of my student org, I was able to find people with similar values and goals as me and quickly create a community of support away from home!
What is one piece of advice you would give transfer college students? Don't be afraid to get plugged in and don't shy away from things some people call "freshman" events - aka go to GobblerFest and GobblerNights!
