What was the biggest challenge you encountered as a transfer college student and how did you overcome it? My biggest challenge was being away from family and loved ones after attending a community college in my home town. I was able to over come this by getting involved in clubs and extracurriculars at Virginia Tech. I ultimately became and Transfer Student Orientation Coordinator to help new transfer students have a more seamless transition into a new college.
What is one piece of advice you would give transfer college students? No matter how "out of place" you feel, it's important to know that there a hundreds of other students also struggling with their identity of not being a freshman, but also adjusting to being a new Hokie. You're not along and you are NOT any less of a Hokie just because it's not where you started your college journey. GO HOKIES!
