What was the biggest challenge you encountered as a transfer college student and how did you overcome it? The biggest challenge that I encountered as a transfer college student, was missing out on the experience of living on campus. I lived at home during my freshman year, while attending community college. When I transferred as a sophomore to Radford University, I moved into an apartment off campus. There were a lot of relationships that had already been established during the first year, that I had to catch-up on. I forced myself into social circles, and said yes to everything that I was invited to.
What is one piece of advice you would give transfer college students? Say yes and get out of your shell! I built life-long relationships after transferring to RU. It would have been really easy for me to go to class, and go home and not build those relationships. The friends that I made during my time in college are life-long friends, and truly made my experience a great one. I have no regrets transferring, and am so glad I said yes many times to new adventures.
