Advocate for yourself! Any opportunity or event that falls in your interest should be explored if you have the time for it. This especially applies to academics, financial aid, and any questions you may have as a transfer, please ask for help if you need it :)
Do you have any campus involvements and/or achievements you want to highlight?
I am currently the treasurer of Pi Alpha Xi, the honors horticulture society and a brother of Lambda Iota Mu, an environment conservation co-ed inclusive service fraternity. I work for the Washington Street greenhouses, the Massey herbarium and I am a lab assistant for Dr. Rideout's lab.

Don’t be scared! I was terrified moving to a new place with no friends but I promise, you will find your people!

I love how many opportunities to get out and get involved there are at VT! It truly is a great place!

What do you enjoy most about VT or your major?
I love how many opportunities there are within CALS and at Virginia Tech in general. There are so many ways to find internships, research opportunities, and jobs. The faculty and staff are always finding new ways for students to succeed.

What one piece of advice would you give to a potential transfer student?
Go out and join things! Making friends is hard and your experience will vastly differ from freshman students, especially if you live off campus. I personally found a first year organization called FLEX which I have made so many friends through!
What do you hope to be doing in ten years?
In ten years I hope to be a practicing Veterinarian! Animals are my passion so I hope to be working with large animals and small animals as well!

What one piece of advice would you give to a potential transfer student?
Do the extra research and make sure every class you pay for fills a pathway or a major requirement. Also, don't stress about finding other people. So many people transfer just like you.

It’s normal feeling out of place at first, but don’t let that stop you from getting involved! Embrace your unique story and bring that into all the new experiences and connections you’ll make during your time here!

One of my most treasured experiences at VT was my study abroad to the British Isles. I not only deepened my understanding of global animal behavior and welfare but also formed lifelong friendships and created unforgettable memories that I will cherish forever.
