Lauren Jenifer
Major: Animal Science
- Where did you transfer from? Norther Virginia Community College
- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? I enjoy getting to gain hands on experience in animal science. I am currently involved in two nutrition research studies and am enrolled in the artificial insemination class. It’s been so fun gaining hands on experience from the multiple opportunities Virginia tech has to offer.
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? My advice would be to meet with your advisor and follow your pathways to make sure all your credits transfer.
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? In ten years, I hope to have my masters in ruminant nutrition, and be working at a zoo as an animal nutritionist.
- Do you have any campus involvements and/or achievements you want to highlight? I am currently helping with two research studies and a part of two clubs.
Carly Zimmet

- Where did you transfer from? Rider University
- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? The community! There is so much to do between all the clubs and organizations, and it feels so good to be involved!
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Tech is a big school, and there is a lot to do. So, get involved in a way that fits you (because there definitely is one)! In the event that the size of Tech is overwhelming, this is a great way to pick out people who are similar to you and find your crowd.
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? Being a Physician’s Assistant for an athletics team and working on creative writing assignments! I would love to work with athletes and write books or screenplays.

- I'm a digital well-being peer educator

Marvellous Asemota
Major: HNFE
- Where did you transfer from? Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond, Louisiana
- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? VT is bigger than my old school but I love the community it has. And inclusion they just try to involve you in a lot of things that work for you.
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Slow down things might be rough in the beginning but it will not always be like that, Ask questions
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? Charity, Helping people regain full functionality of their body as an athletics trainer or Physiotherapist.
- Do you have any campus involvements and/or achievements you want to highlight? I am a track and field athlete running the sprint event for VT while I am here.
Lexi Morris
Major: Ecological Restoration
- Where did you transfer from? Brightpoint Community College
- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? I enjoy all the opportunities that VT has to offer in my in my major. I had no idea what ecological restoration even was before coming here, but i've found my career goal from all of the amazing hands on experiences here!
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Try to engage with on campus activities! Transferring can be a little difficult if you jump straight to living off campus, but there are so many ways to meet new people and make new friends on campus!
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? In ten years, I hope to be helping the Appalachian mountains and wildlife. VT has shown me how amazing and diverse the species are in and around the mountains and I can't wait to help preserve it one day!
Arianah Borj
Major: Biological Sciences
- Where did you transfer from? Laurel Ridge Community College
- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? What I enjoy the most about Virginia Tech is the countless diverse clubs, activities, and events they offer.
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Transfer shock is very real, and every transfer student goes through its different stages. Don't doubt yourself, push through it! It's worth it, and things will get so much better. Looking back on every step of my academic journey, I have never regretted being a transfer student here at Virginia Tech. The university has a great transfer community and program, with many opportunities to get involved, so make sure you attend those. You will instantly make friends and feel right at home.
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? I plan to have my own business and be a Veterinarian.
- Do you have any campus involvements and/or achievements you want to highlight? I am the Social Chair of the Wildlife Disease Association and the Historian of the Pre-Veterinary Medical Association, both at Virginia Tech.

- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? When I came to VT last fall I immediately knew I was in the right place. Everyone here is so nice and I love that there is such a strong sense of community! I also enjoy the many opportunities my major offers for experience in the field!
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Talk to people & get involved! There are so many clubs at VT that make it easy for you to find your people!
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? I hope to continue working with plants out in the field, a greenhouse, or a laboratory setting and research solutions for growing plants in response to climate change.

Major: Agriculture and Extension Education
- Where did you transfer from? Blue Ridge Community College
- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? My experience at Virginia Tech has been enhanced through the diversified coursework, close faculty relationships, and real-world application. Through my coursework, I have been able to explore many of my interests, including nonprofit management, toxic leadership, animal science, and agricultural communications. I have applied these learned skills through internships I was able to secure thanks to the experience I have gained here. All of these areas have strengthened my skills and empowered me to lead with purpose in my everyday life. Because of my time at Virginia Tech I feel prepared to enter the workforce with the skills and knowledge I need to succeed.
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Virginia Tech was the best decision I made! Take the time to develop relationships with your professors, as this will enhance and strengthen your experience.
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? I would love to work in agricultural communications or in the classroom as an agriculture educator while assisting in the management of my family's farm in Highland County, Virginia.

Whit Coggin
Major: Agri Business
- Where did you transfer from? Virginia Tech Agricultural Technology Program
- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? What I enjoy most about being at Virginia Tech is the community, from friends, football, to academics, Virginia Tech has created life long relationships and connections both personally and professionally. An Agri Business major will provide with business management experience which will provide avenues to switch my career to sales later down the road.
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? One piece of advice I would give to a potential transfer student is to continuously seek opportunities to grow and network. Don't just go to Virginia Tech, be a part of Virginia Tech.
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? In ten years from now I will be a Director of Golf Course Maintenance at a high-end country club along coastal South Carolina.
- Do you have any campus involvements and/or achievements you want to highlight? Before transferring to the Agribusiness program from the two-year turfgrass program, I served as President of the Turfgrass Club at Virginia Tech, now, I serve as the Social Director where I help students find internships, industry related volunteer opportunities, and bring guest speakers in to speak to the club.
