Associate Director of University Studies, Academic Advising & Transition Support

  • Years of in academic advising (not just VT): I have worked in academic advising  for 15 years at two different universities. My current role focuses on working with exploring students in University Studies and students transitioning between majors through transitional advising. I supervise professional staff members and student workers, as well as support my unit through a variety of administrative responsibilities.
  • Advising expertise or areas of specialization: Academic advising, student success, academic recovery, student leadership support, First-Generation Students, exploratory and transitioning student support.
  • What you enjoy most about mentoring: I enjoy helping others to identify their strengths and find ways to use those strengths to grow. That may be increasing their enjoyment with the work they are currently doing or finding new challenges. I love working collaboratively and sharing information that I've learned along the way.
