- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? Working as an analyst in my dream state!
- Do you have any campus involvements and/or achievements you want to highlight? Intramural Soccer my first semester at VT, and BIT Club!
Mary Conroy
Major: Business Management
- Where did you transfer from? Indiana University - Bloomington
- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? What I enjoy most about Virginia Tech is the people I've met. They've truly made this place feel like home. From my friends outside of class to the peers I collaborate with in group projects and discussions, everyone brings a sense of support, motivation, and community that makes learning and growing here so meaningful.
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Be open to new experiences and push yourself beyond your comfort zone; it's the best way to build connections and discover what truly excites you.
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? Ten years from now, I hope to be established in a successful career in government contracting, working in a major city where I can contribute to meaningful projects that support national goals and make a difference through my work.
- Do you have any campus involvements and/or achievements you want to highlight? When I transferred here, joining a sorority my sophomore year helped me meet so many new people and feel part of the community. This year, I joined a research program called the Diplomacy Lab, which has let me explore interests outside my business major and gain experience in real-world policy work.

- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? The campus has a very humanistic atmosphere, and the design of the buildings is very stylish.
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Remember to bring a cooking pot with you.
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? Completed doctoral studies in the field of data science.
- Do you have any campus involvements and/or achievements you want to highlight? Please visit an ongoing project of mine called "Hokies Ehall".
Ava Berube
Major: Accounting and Information Systems
- Where did you transfer from? Reynolds Community College
- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? I enjoy the strong sense of community at Virginia Tech and the endless opportunities to grow academically and professionally. As an accounting major, I appreciate how my classes connect theory to real-world applications, preparing me for a future career as a CPA.
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Get involved early and don't be afraid to put yourself out there. Joining organizations, making friends in your classes, and connecting with professors makes the transition smoother and helps you feel at home much faster.
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? In ten years, I hope to be a licensed CPA working in audit or advisory at a major firm, with a master's degree in accounting, and mentoring the next generation of students pursuing the profession.
- Do you have any campus involvements and/or achievements you want to highlight? I am part of the Transfer Experience Living-Learning Community and actively participate in events which has made the transition to Virginia Tech so much smoother. I also graduated summa cum laude with my associate degree and have consistently earned recognition on the Dean's and President's Lists.

- What do you enjoy most about VT or your major? Getting to meet new people and getting a chance to work with business automation, programming, and deep learning.
- What is one piece of advice you would give to a potential transfer student? Definitely take single and multi-variable calculus as it open a realm of infinite possibilities when it comes to what you can study at a tech.
- What do you hope to be doing in ten years? I wish to start my own startup.
