Susan Stinson

College: College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences
Years as an academic advisor: 17
Why did you choose to be an academic advisor? It was part of the gig, and I'm so glad: Many of the out of classroom / one-on-one discussions I have had with students (or small groups of students) have been some of the most rewarding in my teaching history.
What do you wish students knew about academic advisors? We care. Full stop.
What is one of your favorite parts of your role as an advisor? The complete absence of grading ~ Just listening and sharing ideas.
What is one piece of advice you would offer to a brand new advisor? Listen to each student and ask yourself, "Where can I best meet this person and their need today?"
