Why did you choose to be an academic advisor? I have passion in teaching and impacting knowledge to students. Therefore, I always wanted to assist students and provide them with resources within and outside the campus environment so that they can be successful.
What do you wish students knew about academic advisors? Advisors are approachable, caring and show lots of empathy, and direct advocates for students.
What is one of your favorite parts of your role as an advisor? Helping freshmen during Summer Orientation. For example, helping with class schedule in Hokie Spa and assisting them utilize resources.
What is one piece of advice you would offer to a brand new advisor? Be a good listener and ask someone if you don't know the answer.
