What is one of your favorite parts of your role as an advisor? Seeing students' successes after VT, getting jobs, getting married, having kids. It's so rewarding to have them continue to connect years after graduation.
What is one piece of advice you would offer to a brand new advisor? Listen to what your students are telling you. There's a reason they are in your office. Sometimes they just need someone to listen, an ear. It's often what they aren't saying that speaks the loudest.
