Advising Ambassadors

We would like to introduce our Fall 2019 Advising Ambassadors!

Advising Ambassadors, Advising Matters at Virginia Tech

The Advising Ambassadors are an integral part of connecting students to academic advising at Virginia Tech. Their primary duties are to assist students with developing an academic plan which integrates their curricular and co-curricular experiences; and serve as a resource to connect students with their academic advisor and general campus resources.

Why did you become an Advising Ambassador?
"I became an Advising Ambassador because I have personally seen the benefit to using a Pathways Planner throughout my time here at Virginia Tech. Our school has so much to offer in terms of classes and extracurriculars, and I wanted to help other students plan and explore their options."

Athena

Athena Gardner

Academic Year: Junior
Major: Civil Engineering

Why did you become an Advising Ambassador?
"I wanted to become an Advising Ambassador after being a mentor my sophomore year in my living-learning community. I love being able to help people follow their paths and learn to believe in themselves by providing the appropriate resources. There are many amazing opportunities at Tech and I want to make sure everyone is aware of our resources. I never want a person to think they need to face a problem here by themselves and becoming an ambassador seemed like a good way to give back to the Hokie community."

Why did you become an Advising Ambassador?
"I became an Advising Ambassador because I learned early on the importance of academic advising. I have an amazing academic advisor that has assisted me with any question I ever have and I wanted to do my part to give back to other students on campus. My experiences have grown my curiosity of Pathways Planners and providing students with the resources to get the most out of their education! "

Why did you become an Advising Ambassador?
"I became an Advising Ambassador because I understand the feeling of being overwhelmed with planning your future. I wanted to be a part of an organization that helps students get the help and resources they need to succeed. Being an Advising Ambassador means I get to help other students, which I love doing, and sharing my experiences and resources I've learned during my time at Virginia Tech!"
